San Francisco MessengersVote to Union

On June 1,1999, the messengers at UltraEx in San Francisco voted 27 to 15 in favour of a union. After a two yearstruggle the San Francisco Bike Messenger Association succeeded in bringingthe entire American messenger industry into the 20th century - finally.

All 42 Ultra Ex messengers voted in thehighly contested election that saw management vigourously fight to breakthe union. The messengers will be represented by the International Longshore& Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 6, who will begin bargaining with UltraEx management for the first contract.

Messengers all over the world appreciateSF messengers and congratulate them on their victory.
