Darryl "Kwe" Kweli Sargent was a New York City messenger who passed
away on June 5, 2024
Growing up on the block together was one thing, but since 2015 we
built a serious brotherhood. I remember when you asked if I wanted
to be a bike messenger and i told you that you were out your fucking
mind &. That turned into 5 years of us riding through the city
together. Met on the block 6am faithfully. Man you taught me so
much, instilled the drive and discipline in me that was missing.
Helped me provide for my family.
Every spot in Manhattan that was worth knowing about, you took me
there. NOBODY knew the city like you. I checked in with you every
visit to NY since I left. Always talked about our ideas and plans
moving forward, looking back on how far we've come. I'll never
forget your excitement coming into fatherhood. You were just getting
started on your journey bro, a true visionary. Thank you for
changing my life. I'm gonna miss you Kwe. Love you my brother -
