Hurt Cyclist Squeezed Out of Biz

A bike messenger who emerged from a traffic death trap with barely a
scratch is hanging up his courier bag - for good.
"I feel tired, pretty bad," said Adama Doucoure, 21, released from
Bellevue Hospital Friday night.
The Mali native - a devout Muslim who believes God was watching over
him - became wedged in an eight-inch gap between a truck and city bus
Thursday morning after the truck stopped unexpectedly on Madison Avenue
near 40th Street.
The only treatment he needs now is to take Tylenol or Advil for his
bruises, pal John Gomez said.
"He's doing all right," said Gomez, a fellow bike messenger who'd
brought Doucoure into the business. "He has some pain in his chest,
that's it, but nothing serious, no broken bones or anything."
Still, "he's not going to do bike messengering anymore," Gomez added.
"He liked it, but he's done."
Instead, Doucoure is looking forward to playing soccer.
