Messenger
Attacked
Toronto Star, September 4, 1900
Albert Bailey, a messenger boy with a crippled arm, swore that John
Noxon had punched him in the head and knocked him under a car in Yonge
Street, opposite the Arcade the other day and Noxon was fined $5 and
costs or 30 days. William Crone, a friend of Noxon’s, was also assessed
$1 and costs for kicking Bailey when he was down.
Policeman Stewart, who captured Noxon, borrowed a bicycle to assist in
the arrest. Noxon borrowed a wheel to assist in his progress toward
freedom but Stewart was the faster rider.
