Messenger Boy Dies of Collision Hurts

Roland Brann, 23rd Traffic Victim This Year

Toronto Star, April 22, 1938

Roland Brann, 18, messenger boy, died in Toronto General Hospital today of injuries he received when his bicycle and a car were in a collision on St. Alban’s St. Wednesday.

The boy who lived on Rowntree Ave. received multiple bone fractures. He is said by police to have been struck by the door handle. He had turned out to pass a truck coming to a stop when the collision with a car coming in the opposite direction occurred.

Police reported the car is owned by the provincial department of agriculture and was driven by Sidney T. Harvey of Avenue Rd.

The boy was the 23rd person fatally injured in traffic accidents this year.
