Must License Bike Couriers Metro Told

Bicycle couriers in Metro should be licensed, Toronto City Council
says. Councilors sent their message to their counterparts at Metro
Council yesterday because the decision has to be made at their level.
But Metro Councilor Dick O’Brien said in an interview a Metro committee
has been studying the issue for about seven months and it should have a
decision by the summer.
Toronto Councillor Tom Clifford said he thought all bicycle should be
licensed. But a suggestion that all bicycle riders be required to carry
identification and only children under 12 be allowed to ride on
sidewalks was sent back to the city services committee for study.
